Improve Intelligence

Every parent, every boss, every teacher, possibly everyone wants to improve intelligence, because we operate from this paradigm that improved intelligence somehow makes us quicker, faster, richer, smarter, you fill in the blank.... If I somehow have more of 'it', then I will achieve more and achieve 'it' more easily.

But what is intelligence at the level of the brain? The psychologists will measure a number of constructs, but at the level of the neuron, intelligence is the connections between neurons, what we have learned to call neuroplasticity, and neuroplasticity can be enhanced, recovered, nurtured.

In fact, you could make a point that since it is now accepted science that we grow new neurons every day, which we call neurogenesis, that we can grow new intelligence every day,and the brain fitness folks are saying that we can work out our brain to make it a most hospitable place for neuroplasticity, and neurogenesis to happen.

So improving intelligence will certainly involve working out the brain, as Simon Evans,PH.D. and Paul Burghardt,Ph.D. point out int their excellent e-book called Brainfit for Life. Evans and Burghardt make a compelling case for taking care of the brain and its neuroplastic and neurogenetic capacities. Taking care of the hardware makes the software more effective, so if we think of improving intelligence as a goal, then I want to suggest that a brain growing more neurons and forming new connections is a brain with more intelligence.

Evans and Burghardt site the research and make a compelling case for taking care of what they call the pillars of brain fitness, which are physical activity/exercise, nutrition, including lots of antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids, good sleep, stress management, and novel learning experiences to improve intelligence.

Sounds vaguely like messages you got from Grandmother, except for the novel learning experience part, right, because the Seniors I know now say cross word puzzles and sudoku keep their brains sharp, which is correct up to a point.

The novel learning experience that really improves neuroplasticity and neurogenesis is the kind of novel learning experience you experience when you are learning a new language or a new instrument, where there is a continually growing complexity and an appropriate amount of success and failure.

So the key to this brain fitness pillar is that it is novel, and doing crosswords or sudoku which do not increase in complexity will not be the best help for my brain.

Put another way, as a counselor, I cannot read another counseling book, and expect increased neurogenesis or neuroplasticity.

But What About My Schedule...?

Is there a solution to improved intelligence and my limited schedule for practicing a new instrument or new language?

Well, Evans and Burghadt describe some research about a computerized task called the dual n back task.

It increases what is called fluid intelligence, which is very broadly, the intelligence that allows me to pick one stimulus from many to pay attention to.

Practice with this tool will rapidly teach you about your lack of attentional skills, meaning you will learn how fast you drift away from a task.

The dual n back practice will impact the neuroplastic connections between your attention paying neurons, and the researchers have actually demonstrated in increased intelligence using a paper and pencil intelligence test, so it is possible isn't it, to demonstrate improved intelligence.

The catch? The experimenters tried a number of different practice schedules, and the schedule demonstrating the most success was the practice one time per day for nineteen days schedule, each practice lasting a half-hour, so there is a time commitment, and a need to follow through regularly for the best results.

Practice makes perfect for your neurons too, and your boss/teacher/supervisor/wife will love you newly improved intelligence.

Word Puzzle Solving - Five Fast Tips

Any reference-based puzzles like crosswords, the major challenges, even the most experienced puzzle solvers us at the moment. As a writer-standing puzzle, I'd like to share a few tips from the inside.

1. Multiple meaning words

Just a simple word, a variety of meanings. Fair can mean 1) pleasing to the eye or the mind - a pretty girl 2) non-storm - The nice weather 3) impartiality - a judge fair 4) is not dark - a light complexion 5) adequate but not sufficient - a reasonable amount of foodrefrigerate 6) A meeting of the purchases and sales - an antiques fair 7) Carnival - the carnival 8) in a baseball joke foul lines - just a ball, and many others.

So if you have a difficult crossword clue, believe that the answer to a word you already know, but with a meaning that is unusual. Can you guess an answer for this information? Hint: it has 7 letters.

Clue: a long and relatively narrow room, esp. for public use, a fence or ornamental crestingSurroundings are on top of a table, desk, etc., a step made by an animal. (To read the answer ...)

2. Spelling

Check the spelling of difficult words. Suppose that the reference is to humiliate, for example. You decide the answer is embarrassing. But the puzzle requires a letter of response 9, and you start racking your brain to another word. A quick check of the dictionary or spell checker will tell you that the embarrassment is really 9 letters!

3. Consult a referenceBook

If you really stops with words and definitions in a dictionary, crossword dictionary, thesaurus, almanac or any of dozens of online resources. Puzzler Some think this is "fraud", but if you point to the reply button, instead of what's his name? With a reference work in itself is an educational exercise. It is not always easy to know where to look, so take your brain to do the research.

4. Take a break

If a puzzle completely drunk walkingremoved. Move feed on a different, lighter puzzles, dog, or walking. A relaxed brain is often easier to respond to one, the time was for a long time.

5. Keep it

Do not stop! The puzzle to solve the more you lose. You increase your vocabulary and learn the tricks that writers use various puzzles. If you have a particular format that you like puzzles, solve a lot of them. But also try new formats. Research has shownthat brain health is improved when we try new things.

The Raw Truth About Persuasion and Copywriting!

I asked all the time, "Lorrie?, How can I make my copy more persuasive" So frankly it helps if you can talk about your views on language. But the most convincing writing the right words to say is involved. You say in the right order ... and in a way that reduces resistance to new information and is acceptable, his spirit. One discipline that translates well to writing persuasive copy is NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming.

GNP is not a substitute forLyrics good. This is a turbo-boost. Meeting a person for his own set of levels with known words, is in control of communication almost immediately.

You have already been moved once to a pair of sexy shoes instead of the sensible, comfortable shoes that you buy really need? But if you come home you do not know, how about the strength of spending money? See, people understand the consequences of purchase, but often lack the internal recipe that risesthere. We all know we tend to buy on emotion and logic. In fact, purchasing decisions are largely the most emotional.

Who is right anyway?

We all agree on two sides of the brain, right? The left (logical) and right (emotional). Curiosity: The information that the brain is perceived to be right emotion. Then in a split second, shot through the left logical. Then finally, once again against the right emotional. InIn other words, every message we receive, the right brain is influenced by emotion. Pretty amazing, huh?

Here's the basic principle of NLP, as I understand it. There is no intellectual resistance to an idea that is perceived as your own. And if one employed by us to our imagination, we think we had the idea to us. So it must be great! Coincides with our own beliefs, is unconsciously accepted as the truth and behave as if it's true. So becoming NLPThe condition that the changes can be made quickly and automatically.
So let's cover some principles of NLP and how to use them in the art of persuasive writing.

Pacing

Pacing was done at the prospect of shoes from the target language. Watch David Ogilvy (one of the greatest masters of advertising, never lived) as an example. His title is not the first Rolls Royce out of mind, but the engineer at the factory. Ogilvy was told: "You know, David, the loudest noiseRolls Royce comes from this clock on the dash to 60 mph. "And David thought this man, this engineer must know something, because it is a constant flow of changes and revisions, and all that Rolls Royce factory. David has done his research and a connection. I do not propose that the technical became aware of NLP David, but is an example of how we as people connect the dots and write convincingly asResult.

Although similar to empathy, the pace is a bit 'more complex. In encouraging pace, you are actually in order to view or other evidence to be used to access a very subtle and vague. Are the same communication skills matching, mirroring and the relationship that you step and some lead to make the sale.

NLP Master Ross Jeffries said: "People will not accept an authority that we should go where, when you accept an institution whereon. "

In other words, if you're reading a letter or music listening to a podcast, it makes sense to me as a writer, this experience for your mirror. Then you are relaxing in a subtle way:

"As you sit and read this letter ..."
"As you sit at your computer ..."
"While listening to this show ..."

Each of these sentences, you and the prospect of an experience that moves him or her for sale. Have you ever met someone and felt a momentRelationship with this person? Or on the other hand, he met someone you just could never get enough in tune?

What if you knew how to get to that wavelength person "? It would be a completely different result - the result you wanted! This is the meaning of the definition of the target audience (or my opinion, TAR-KET). You can communicate with this person, because it is already defined him or her.

Condition of consciousness

This technique, which also connects withSpeak directly to your target market precisely. (If people are not their target down, no matter how good your copy nailed. No matter if you try to sell meat to a vegetarian. It is not easy to get to work. So, really in your target zone market.)

The way you do that is to understand your product. Find out where to eat, where to shop, how they look. They are a family or are single? Have dogs or not? They live in a rural areaArea or city? These keys make a big difference when trying to find out who your target audience. When I write my copy, write to a person. I visualize everything about them so it is very real for me when I start to write. I would suggest that you funnel down your target market to your chipboard as much as possible. That is, as you can have the illusion. Do you have information that they and the mind fills in the gaps. The more specific the better what ishe said.

In this technique, you can direct the reader's consciousness assuming something is true. To speak with him or her, as if something has already happened. Here are some examples:

"How do you become aware ..."
"As you know ..."
"I'm not sure how you get excited about this offer, but ..."

The correct use of language models in words means that you have to communicate through tonal changes, tempo changes etc., along the lines of a question or a statementone command. We invite the people of our certainty about our products or services using a expressing a command or a statement like "Do you agree say so?"

Prerequisite TIME

This approach piggybacks the previous year. They are based on the perspective of the experience of consciousness, adding the element of time. Examples:

"Before ordering today ..."
"After the end of your decision ..."
"While you are filling out the order form ..."

Use language patternsand move in a different direction, which translates into a win for everyone. The truth is that we sell every day, throughout the day. Is it not make much sense, communication skills, how to use NLP someone where you want to go to that lead them? And the more this happens, the more successful you are with your copy.
